What We Believe

We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are God’s written revelation to man and are divinely inspired, authoritative, and inerrant in the original manuscripts.

We believe that the gospel is the central truth of the Bible, the foundation of our faith, and the fuel for the Christian life. The gospel is the good news that while we were dead in our sin, God sent His son Jesus to live a perfect life on our behalf, die a substitutionary death to pay the penalty for our sin, and rise again from the grave to offer us new life in His Spirit.

We believe that the Father reigns with providential care over all things according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, fully God and fully man. According to the scriptures, He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on a cross as the substitutionary atonement for man’s sin, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to Heaven, where He now reigns as the only mediator between God and man, and will one day return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired men to write the Scriptures, and, through illumination, enables men to understand truth. At conversion, He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. The Holy Spirit exalts Christ, convicts people of sin, calls them to the Savior, effects regeneration, bestows spiritual gifts, cultivates sanctification, and seals the believer for final redemption.

We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-co-eternal in being, co-eternal in nature, co-equal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections.

We believe that the church, which is the body and espoused bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again persons. We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. We believe in the autonomy of the local churches, free of control by any external ecclesiastical body, while walking in voluntary cooperation with other churches for mutual accountability and mission. We believe that the two offices that govern the church are elder/pastor/overseer and deacon. We recognize believer's baptism and the Lord's supper as scriptural means of testimony for the church.

We believe that salvation is the gift of God given to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.

We believe that every member of the church is sent out by Jesus as a minister of the gospel, declaring the love of Christ with our lips and demonstrating the love of Christ with our lives—not only in our communities but also to the farthest and most unreached places of the world.
